Thanks to the incredible support from Children in Need, Connect With Pride has become a vital part of what we do at Cumbria Pride, offering events in the North, West and South of Cumbria, for children and young people that focus on LGBT+ wellbeing.
We know how important it is for young people to feel connected to Pride, many tell us it’s the one day they can truly be themselves. That’s why Connect With Pride creates safe, inclusive spaces filled with fun activities, entertainment, advice, and links to local support. We aim to empower children and young people to feel proud of who they are. When they attend future Pride events, ours or others, we want them to stand tall, knowing they belong and are a valued part of the LGBT+ community!
I don't think I've seen *my child* smile this much for a long time, thank you.
Wow what a fun day and I got to meet Smashby!
Amazing!
I had so much fun. I made 20 keyrings but I like the rainbow pictures best.
I liked crashing the blocks down and making everyone jump it was funny.
I'm looking forward to Pride but I really can't wait until it's our day again though.
Thank you so much for today, it's helped me to understand. *My child* loves their bag.

Our LGBTeas are welcoming afternoon events filled with music, entertainment, and good company. Events are open to both LGBT+ individuals and allies, and are suitable for all ages, but are particularly popular with our older LGBT+ community, providing an important opportunity to come together, build friendships, and reduce feelings of isolation.
With a light buffet provided, we aim to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, whether they are attending for the first time or have been to many before. LGBTeas are a chance to socialise, access peer support, and be part of a welcoming community throughout the year.
Amazing spread! Fabulous entertainment! Great chat! Thank you so much!!
First time I've been out as ME! Thank you so much. I had a fab time. Will be back.
We had a brilliant time thanks, so did my daughter, and so did the Grandkids!
Lovely atmosphere and such a friendly crowd. I felt really welcome. Food great too.
At my age I don't get out much. It was just what I needed, thank you.
So nice to be in a space where I can just be myself. Can't wait for the next one!

In this area there are often activities for adults and teenagers, but there is very little for younger children, so we introduced 'Make with Pride' offering relaxed art and craft sessions for LGBT+ families with this age group. Thanks to funding from the Community Fund (from the National Lottery) we are able to offer these activities to families completely free.
Sessions are suitable for nursery/primary age children who must be accompanied by an adult, and are for children who either identify as LGBT+ themselves, have family members or friends who identify as LGBT+, or whose family would like support in becoming an LGBT+ ally. We aim to give children more opportunities to see other diverse families and help promote early understanding of inclusion, whilst also supporting nervous parents/carers/families to feel less isolated.
We had such a lovely time crafting together, we’ll definitely be back.
My child absolutely loved it, such a calm and welcoming space.
Really friendly atmosphere, we felt comfortable as soon as we arrived. Thank you.
Such a brilliant session, perfect for families to relax and get creative while talking LGBT.
It was so nice to meet other families, everyone was kind and welcoming.
My little one didn’t want to leave, they enjoyed every minute! Thanks so much!
